And just like that, another year is nearly over. As we wave goodbye to 2023, we’ve been reflecting on everything we’ve done this year. From further expansion overseas and welcoming brilliant new clients and partners, to product updates and lots of new content, it’s been a particularly busy and exciting one for Colateral.
If you’ve got some time on your hands as things wind down for Christmas, in this article you’ll find a summary of some of Colateral’s content highlights this year.
From campaign optimisation to retail media, here are the top 10 articles that garnered the most interest in 2023:
This year we produced some great guides to help you excel at multi-location marketing. If you haven’t already got your free copies, here they are:
We interviewed 225 marketing leaders in multi-location retailers in North America. In this ebook, they share their insights on:
Carefully curated atmospheres, eye-catching deals, and emotive messaging. There’s no denying it, marketing influences our shopping decisions and encourages impulse buying. Even those of us who are familiar with all the tactics at play aren’t immune to it.
So what’s the key to creating exceptional, consistent, on-brand experiences in every store? Great store profiling. With the rise of e-commerce and squeezed margins in store, this ebook unpicks the power of meticulous store profiling and how it can be used to future-proof your physical locations.
Towards the end of this year we launched Retail Talks & Triumphs, a series of webinars that features leaders of marketing and retail to tell inspirational stories about great campaigns. Our host, Jez Collins is joined by incredible retailers and brands to discuss their marketing experiences, triumphs and tribulations. Have a watch (or listen!) now:
In this episode, Kerry Thorpe, Head of Communications for Ben & Jerry’s Europe, Australia & New Zealand, and Molly Baker, Founder and CEO of Indie Consulting, discuss how they delight customers and create “fandoms” in an increasingly omnichannel environment. Hear the strategies and tactics they use to engage and delight customers online and offline, the role of values, and why genuine communities should be the next big trend.
In this episode, Gareth Turner, founder of Big Black Door (and former Head of Marketing at Weetabix, Heineken and Arla Foods), tells the story behind the Weetabix campaign that partnered with UK & Ireland Football Associations.
With tips on how to create marketing campaigns that inspire your teams and deliver genuine business impact, this is well worth a listen!
Our platform is constantly being improved, and this year was particularly exciting in terms of new developments. Here’s a handful of some of the things we achieved in 2023:
This project was undertaken to make campaign creation even faster for marketers. It speeds up everything and reduces the number of clicks from campaign briefing to segmentation. You can create briefs, select the target locations with tags, and the tool auto-populates what’s needed. Simple!
We created a new artwork brief library, so you can more easily manage, monitor and access all your campaign artworks in one place, including individual image rights.
Our new Item Library allows you to manage all the items you’ve ever created in one space. You can turn them off if they have expired or can’t be used anymore. You can make them available to certain locations, you can push them out to other materials and send them to our stock ordering system or for reprints. This update transforms campaign item creation from a linear process to something much more flexible. It gives you complete visibility and management over all your campaign things!
Our Store Preview update allows you to visualise your campaigns on individual floor plans, allowing better planning and simpler communication on how to install the marketing in each of your locations.
For Colateral, 2023 was the year of data! We launched our new insights tool kit with the ability to manage and visualise campaign data and easily share it with wider teams. Offering flexible dashboards with filters to track campaigns, spend, suppliers… whatever you need. We have really enjoyed taking the leap from transforming business workflows and creating efficiencies into delivering business insights and driving performance.
As well as all of the above, we’re delighted to have moved into the US market and had a great response, on boarding a number of new customers.
We have loads planned for next year, if you’d like to stay in the loop, here’s how to keep up to date with us in 2024:
